January 25, 2024

We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Calumet Township Assessor Cozey E. Weatherspoon, a father and dedicated public servant. Cozey committed his life to helping the citizens of Gary in many roles; notably, he served as Common Councilman representing the 2nd district from 2020-2023, General Services Superintendent, and most recently as Calumet Township Assessor.

Cozey was a passionate advocate for Gary and loved his community deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. On behalf of the city of Gary, we extend our deepest condolences to the Weatherspoon family.
