Update on Drop-off Recycling from Gary Sanitary District and Gary Public Works Department

February 1, 2025

Dear Gary Residents,

We would like to take this opportunity to update you on the changes in recycling services. To ensure a smooth transition to the new drop-off recycling program, we will continue residential pick-up service from February 1st to February 8th.

Additionally, based on community feedback, we are considering alternative drop-off recycling locations for the Miller neighborhood. An updated list of drop-off recycling locations will be announced by Friday, February 7th.

After February 8th, if you would like to keep your recycling bin, you may use it for the disposal of solid waste. If you prefer to return your recycling bin, you can request a pick-up by contacting the Recycling Department at cogrecycling@gary.gov or by calling (219) 882-8445.

We appreciate the community's feedback as we work to find the best environmental and economical solutions for our city. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this transition.

For frequently asked questions (FAQs) and the latest updates, residents may visit the City of Gary Recycling Department website at https://www.gary.gov/recycling.

Sincerely,

The Gary Public Works Department
