Mayor Melton and Congressman Mrvan Visit Head Start St. Mark Early Learning Academy

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Mayor Melton alongside Congressman Frank Mrvan, participated in a special event at Head Start St. Mark Early Learning Academy in Gary, Indiana.

The gathering brought together key community stakeholders, including local educators, early childhood development advocates, and civic leaders, to tour the facility and discuss the critical impact of Head Start programs on young learners.

Following the tour, officials held a press conference to underscore the essential services Head Start provides to families, particularly in underserved communities. The federally funded early education program, which has played a pivotal role in supporting children’s academic and social development, has recently been at the center of national discussions regarding government funding and budget allocations.
