This powerful commitment reaffirms the critical partnership between the United States and Canada in protecting our shared freshwater resources and advancing economic resilience throughout the region.

Alongside mayors and representatives from Milwaukee, Québec City, Oakville, and the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians, Mayor Melton emphasized the vital role cities like Gary play in stewarding the Great Lakes—home to 20% of the world’s surface freshwater.
