GARY, IND. – August 19, 2026 – Mayor Eddie Melton announced today that the City of Gary has received a $100,000 donation from Hard Rock Casino of Northwest Indiana to aid ongoing recovery operations across the city following the August 11th storm crisis.
The storm relief funds will provide direct assistance to affected Gary residents. These resources will be used to distribute critical items, including food and hydration, health and personal hygiene items, as well as cleaning and debris removal supplies.
"Hard Rock Casino has consistently proven to be a dedicated partner to the City of Gary, and their rapid response to this crisis is a testament to that commitment," said Mayor Eddie Melton. "This $100,000 donation will be deployed immediately to secure critical resources—from daily hydration to debris cleanup supplies for our hardest-hit neighborhoods. It is corporate citizenship like this that helps our community rebuild faster and stronger."
