The City of Gary and Mayor Eddie Melton invite members of the media to a special community celebration on October 13, 2025, as the City of Gary officially renames Grant Street to Richard Gordon Hatcher Blvd in honor of late Mayor Richard Gordon Hatcher, a trailblazing leader and the first African American mayor of Gary.
