City of Gary Statement on Resolution of Bomb Threat to GPTC Metro Station

On the morning of August 7th, 2024, the City of Gary received a bomb threat targeting the Gary Public Transportation Corp (GPTC) Metro Station at 200 W 4th Ave. Thanks to the prompt actions of an anonymous citizen, city officials were immediately alerted and collaborated with authorities to swiftly contain and resolve the situation within 10 minutes.

We are pleased to report that the location is now clear and safe, and citizens may enter and exit freely. The City of Gary extends its gratitude to the community for their vigilance and encourages everyone to continue reporting any suspicious behavior by calling (219) 207-8477 (TEXT-A-TIP).
