Gary, IND. AT&T is contributing $10,000 to the Greater Gary Storm Recovery and Relief Fund, managed by the Legacy Foundation. This contribution will assist communities impacted by recent severe storms in Gary, IN.
Additionally, AT&T employees joined Gary Mayor Eddie Melton today at the Hudson Campbell Sports Complex to distribute hundreds of supply kits, bottles of water and other essential items to residents impacted by storm damage. AT&T Community Response Trucks delivered the supplies, marking the first deployment of the vehicles.
Mayor Melton stated, "I want to thank AT&T for stepping up with a generous $10,000 donation to our recovery fund and for deploying equipment to provide Wi-Fi access and charging stations to residents impacted by the August 11 storm. This partnership is helping our residents stay connected to their families, access important information, and keep essential devices charged while we continue the recovery. We are grateful for AT&T’s commitment to Gary and for standing with our community when our residents need it most.”
To further support those affected by the storms, AT&T, in collaboration with the non-profit Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC), deployed equipment to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity and device power charging stations. The equipment is stationed at Hudson Campbell Sports Complex and will remain in place as needed.
“Our thoughts are with those impacted by the recent storms and severe weather in Indiana. At times like this, connectivity is even more important. Keeping devices active and staying in contact with family and friends is critical. AT&T is here to help alongside the Hoosier community,” said Steve Rogers, AT&T Vice President for External Affairs, Indiana.
